Wheee! I totally completed MMM13, wearing at least one item of clothing made by me every day. I was sad not to be able to wear a few favourite dresses during the month, but may have cheated a couple of times by wearing two outfits in one day. I often wear more than one outfit in a day, especially now I’m “working” from home, and yet… I didn’t even manage to take a photo of one a day in the latter fortnight of May. Oooops.
I did make a new skirt though! I bought this fabric more than TWO YEARS AGO in Santiago. I finally used it to make a 12-gore skirt, using a vintage skirt I own as a base. I want to make a blouse to go with it too, as I’ve still got fabric left, so that I can confuse people by wearing a dress that isn’t really a dress. Woah, I know. Mindblowing.
I’ve also been screenprinting for college, wearing this snazzy T-shirt that my darling brother made for me in reference to an encounter with a slightly disturbed waiter at a local parrilla, who kept saying JUS RELACK. I can confirm he has since been let go from his job (the waiter, not my brother). I’m also wearing some hideous and uncomfortable purple trousers that I made from a self-drafted pattern. Really need to work on my trouser pattern.
And this is the last one, the Mrs Flax Dress. D’you like my crazy shoelaces? I know, I’m too old for neon. Well I won’t be a 30-year-old fashion student forever, guys. Cut me some slack.
Here’s one of the 15 shirts I’ve made so far for the cafe uniform. Very sophis. And you can see my screenprinting drying in the background!
Well, my final thoughts on MMM13 are that I’m TERRIBLE at taking my own photo, that I should clean the mirrors more often, and that I desperately need to make myself some new basic clothes, especially trousers. The skirt is the first thing I’ve made for myself in months, which is just ridiculous considering how much fabric I have. Maybe I’ll make myself some shirts, now I’m so damn good at them!
I did manage not to buy any fabric during the month, except for a few bits for a coursework project I’m working on at the moment. Well done to everyone who participated in MMM, especially those who managed to actually take nice photos every day, and thanks to Zoe for coming up with it! It’s been fun, and I promise I haven’t worn my skanky cardigan out more than once.
